Sussex is a bottomless pot of beautiful walks with everything from a scramble up the South Downs to a leisurely stroll on the Ashdown Forest.

Here are 5 of our favourite Winter Walks.

The Jack and Jill Windmills in the heart of the Sussex Downs makes for the starting point of a perfectly picturesque 6.4km walk to The Chattri, a commemorative monument built to honour the Indian Soldiers who fought during World War I.

Try counting sheep (without falling asleep!) or kite flying at Ditchling Beacon with its stunning views and multitude of walks. If you can reach the trig point at 814 feet you'll be at the highest point in East Sussex.

Explore the inspiration for AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh and follow the signs to Pooh Bridge from Hatfield. The perfect family woodland walk.

Nymans Garden encapsulates the beauty of the English garden in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Tackle the 4km stroll around the estate, amongst rolling hills and woodland in the High Weald.

Built in 1841, the Ouse Valley Viaduct is a spectacle worth walking for! Take in the impressive views across the Sussex Weald and if you're feeling energetic, continue along footpaths to take in the wide expanse of Ardingly Reservoir.
